Contact were awarded £97,774 in June 2025 to run their project for 36 months
A 36 month project supporting parent carers with their own Long Term Conditions and/or disabilities, in Glasgow, through a six month programme of wellbeing workshops, Self management skills development and one-to-one support. The project will be supported and overseen by a majority lived experience steering committee.
Learning will be gained from the challenges in how to engage carers with LTCs, and how a service can be structured to effectively provide support. Through gaining a deeper understanding of the barriers carers with LTC face in accessing support related to their caregiving role, as well as whether and how these barriers can be reduced. Learning will also be gained from the degree to which the differing forms of support have an impact on carer’s wellbeing and self management, and the impact this has on the broader family unit.
