YMCA Tayside was awarded £120,000 in June 2025 to run their project for 36 months
A 36 month project taking referrals from a number of Secondary schools across Perth and Kinross to support young people experiencing emotional absences through 1:1 counselling/support and befriending. The programme will be overseen by the Youth Voice group.
Learning will be gained from the experience of working together with schools, which aspects of support appear most impactful, whether there are any patterns that emerge with reference to what keeps young people engaged in the support, the degree to which support leads to people engaging in other YMCA support or broader. and ultimately whether support can be shown to increase wellbeing and reduce the instances of emotional absence.
