MECOPP
- Project Status: On-going
MECOPP were awarded £113,700 in June 2025 to run their project for 24 months
A 24 month project aimed at supporting carers from minority ethnic communities, (primarily the Chinese and South Asian Community) who are adapting to recently identified dementia, cancer or mental health issues for themselves or the person they care for, through culturally appropriate workshops, peer support activities and IT literacy, supported by community ambassador volunteers.
Learning will be gained from a deeper understanding of the needs of carers facing changes in their health, or the health of their cared-for person, as well as the needs of ME carers more generally, including identification as a carer and what impact multigenerational caring can have on a carers ability to manage their own health. The ways in which support needs to adapt, and potentially separate, to be relevant to each audience, and the impact on individuals of having this culturally appropriate content. As well as the impact of the different strands of support on people’s increasing self management capacity and wellbeing.
