The Period Place

The Period Place were awarded £14,990 in June 2025 to run their project for 12 months
A 12 month project targeted at supporting Ethnic Minority Women with Fibroids in and around Aberdeen but benefiting wider. The project aims to develop an app to support symptom tracking and improve access to resources and advice, on fibroids complimented by two-monthly support and information sessions, that will also serve to educate the app development.
Learning will be gained from understanding what women want from the app and the gaps in current support identified. As a Beta version of the app is hoped to be launched half way through the funded term it is also hoped that learning will be gained from how women use the app, and the ways in which the app might have to change following initial launch, as well as whether the symptom tracking facility supports women to engage in conversations with medical professionals about symptoms, or provides any insights through aggregative anonymised data.
