ACTS Scotland provides opportunities for a broad base of learners including, but not limited to, young people disengaged at school.
We provide opportunities for those not in training or further education, the unemployed, those living with a disability and those from disadvantaged communities, to obtain recognised qualifications. Gaining qualifications or certification can lead to securing and staying in employment, enhancing mental well-being through increased self-esteem, and being motivated for a positive future. As an ASDAN Accredited Centre courses can also be delivered to learners in employment, or volunteers at 3rd sector organisations, community centres and many others. Since its inception in 2017 ACTS Scotland CiC has evolved to offer hybrid learning (face-to-face and e-learning), to cater for a range of needs and vocations, and not just sport. The hybrid form of delivery will include face to face training in a group setting for the ASDAN Employability Skills Development, run over eight weeks for a group of 10 – 12 learners. Through feedback from our Cohorts, we have introduced the ASDAN Short Courses which are flexible, portfolio-based programmes, designed to accredit up to 60 hours of activity and skills development. The Short Courses will be delivered through e-learning, including but exclusive to the following courses; Sports and Fitness, Gardening, FoodWise, Environmental. The Academy has also introduced the ASDAN, ‘My Independence’ certified programme for young people with a range of special educational needs. The key aims are to raise aspirations of the young people with profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). |
