The Mission of the Scottish Sensory Centre (SSC) is to foster educational, research and development activities relating to children and young people with a sensory impairment in Scotland. As a national and internationally respected centre we aim to:
• Support the Scottish Government by embracing the values of ‘Getting it Right for Every
Child’, developing the young workforce by promoting the principles of Curriculum for
Excellence.
• Proactively work with parents, teachers and other professionals to offer high quality and
relevant professional development activities that will enhance their knowledge and understanding of issues relating to sensory impairment; this information will assist them to adapt and adopt resources and strategies which improve young people’s achievements, attainments and life chances and promote positive destinations.
• Participate in and promote the exchange and dissemination of specialist knowledge via the Scottish Sensory Centre information and advisory services and provide a hub for other organisations by contributing to and taking forward specialist professional networking.
