Are you interested in being added to the stakeholder list to increase patient involvement in medicines research and development in Scotland?
The ALLIANCE is delighted to announce that they are lead partners in a collaboration with EUPATI Central in establishing EUPATI ENP Scotland.
The European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) is a multi-stakeholder programme led and hosted by the European Patients’ Forum (EPF). EUPATI (this link will take you away from our website) is a successful programme that provides education and training to increase the capacity and capability of patients to understand and contribute to medicines research and development (R&D), and to improve the availability of medical information. It does so by conducting its established Patient Expert Training Course which has trained more than 150 patient experts to date and by providing an open-access multilingual toolbox that has served more than 1.6 million users globally to date.
The EUPATI ENP in Scotland will further the great work of EUPATI UK and raise awareness about the important role of patients and members to identify challenges and opportunities for joint action in the Scottish medicines research and development (R&D) process.
ALLIANCE Director, Irene Oldfather commented:
“Having chaired EUPATI UK for 7 years, I’m delighted that the ALLIANCE has been able to initiate and agree upon a EUPATI Scotland programme. Research, development and the involvement of people with long term conditions in clinical trials have never been more important. We look forward to formally launching the programme when face to face business resumes likely in the autumn.”
The National Platform will be led by an Executive Committee which shares information among members and grows the discussion around national patient involvement issues and opportunities.
Due to COVID-19, the ALLIANCE have decided on a soft launch on social media only – you can follow EUPATI Scotland on Twitter (this link will take you away from our website). We look forward to identifying a date in the future when it is more appropriate to invite all interested stakeholders to attend a round-table to inaugurate ‘EUPATI Scotland’ and agree upon a workplan.
