Mark Dryburgh, Chair of the CPR Group reflects on the importance of clear information about mental health support
As chair of The CPR Group, a Scottish not for profit Community Interest Company, we are committed to supporting young people, families and employees with their mental and physical wellbeing. We want to ensure every person in Scotland knows where support is available locally and nationally, when they need it, and ensure they can access that support quickly.
We have developed a wellbeing key ring which embraces modern technology in the form of QR codes, that lets the holder know that mental and physical wellbeing support is at hand at the click of a phone. Key rings let people know it’s ok not to be ok and encourage them to reach out.
After discussions with numerous mental wellbeing charities it became clear that many people did not know where to go to access support. Despite huge investment by councils, government, the NHS and large employers to deliver mental health support, we are at crisis point. Many issues are not being dealt with and people are slipping through the net.
If councils and government invested in giving a keyring to every primary school parent, secondary school pupil and employee then thousands of people can be directed to the amazing support websites and organisations that in many cases are currently underused.
