Scottish Government's NHS Recovery Plan to address the backlog in care and meet ongoing healthcare needs has been published.
The NHS Recovery Plan sets out key ambitions and actions to be developed and delivered now and over the next 5 years in order to address the backlog in care and meet ongoing healthcare needs for people across Scotland.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant many health and care services have developed a significant backlog for people to receive the care they need. Addressing this backlog of care, while continuing to meet the ongoing urgent health and care needs of the country, is the central aim of this recovery plan.
This recovery plan aims to work closely with unions and staff side organisations, local partners and communities, third sector organisations and the wider public to ensure the planned commitments are actioned accordingly.
Our Chief Executive, Professor Ian Welsh OBE, said:
“The ALLIANCE warmly welcomes the publication of the NHS Recovery Plan. We know from our extensive engagement with people of lived experience of NHS services that they should be at the centre of the recovery. There are a number of welcome commitments in the plan, including reference to a digital choice approach, a focus on staff recovery and wellbeing, and giving everyone access to a link worker.
We look forward to working with the Scottish Government to ensure that lived experience is at the heart of the recovery, and that the plans are well connected to social care and third sector services.”
