Thistle Foundation self management courses.
Thistle are piloting their Lifestyle Management Course (LMC) for young people aged between 16 and 25 who live with a long-term health conditions or additional support needs. For this course they shall be opening places for young people to bring a parent or carer along with them with the aim that they will get something out of coming along to the course themselves.
It is a 10 week course in which they will explore a variety of different topics relating to self management of their condition. They also practice a variety of different relaxation techniques as well as engaging in a graded movement and mobility course moving from gentle stretches to a light circuit, which is adapted to suit each individual. The course runs from 11 July at Thistle Foundation centre, 13 Queen’s Walk, Edinburgh EH16 4EA
They are also recruiting for their next parent peer support course which starts on 24th October, also at the Queens Walk Centre. This is a 7 week course supporting parents to support their young people and meet other parents in a supportive group to help your young person reach their full potential.
