Explore how photography can help reframe mental health, wellbeing and life stories in this hands-on creative workshop.
Photography can communicate experiences, stories and complex issues in a visual and creative way. It can build confidence, empower people and support them to take control of their own narrative. This ability to convey meaning and captivate audiences makes it a powerful storytelling tool, including for addressing mental health stigma.
Join the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) and See Me for a participative and creative workshop exploring the use of photography and other creative methods in reclaiming your own narrative. You’ll hear how photography has been used to reframe mental health, wellbeing and life stories, and get the chance to try it out yourself.
Email engagement@alliance-scotland.org.uk to register to join if you’d like to:
- Learn more about tackling different forms of stigma through photography
- Be inspired by projects where photography has been used to challenge stigma
- Get hands-on experience and try out creative activities
- Discover practical tools and tips for using photography
This introductory session offers a fun and engaging way to explore photography as a creative methodology. No prior experience is necessary. Please bring along something to capture images, this could be a camera or your phone. Let us know when you register if you don’t have access to a device.
More information will be provided following sign-up, note that spaces are limited.
This session has a content warning for themes relating to mental health, stigma and discrimination. You will not be asked to directly share any personal experiences at any point during this session, however you may choose to explore some aspects of your own mental health experience through the photography you create.
