Secure your place at Age Scotland’s Immersive Inclusive Bias Workshop with exclusive discount.

Age Scotland’s Immersive Unconscious Bias Workshop helps managers and staff understand what unconscious bias is, how it affects decisions and behaviours at work, and what can be done to reduce its impact. It explores the psychological basis of bias, its many forms, and the ways it influences recruitment, performance management, and workplace culture.

The workshop covers:

  • The definition of unconscious bias and how our brains process information
  • Different types of bias, including age, gender, race, disability, and name bias
  • How bias shows up in workplace processes such as recruitment, onboarding, appraisal, and promotion
  • The link between prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, and workplace culture
  • Legal responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and how bias can lead to discrimination or harassment
  • Practical strategies to recognise, challenge, and mitigate bias in everyday decisions and interactions
  • The role of managers in shaping culture and modelling inclusive behaviour

Interactive elements include case study scenarios, group discussions, breakout activities, and guided reflection to help participants identify biases in action and practise practical responses.

By the end of the session, participants will understand how unconscious bias works, recognise where it arises in their workplace, and be equipped with tools to reduce its impact and contribute to a more inclusive organisational culture.
