Annual workforce survey now open for social care services employing registered nurses

Social care services across Scotland that employ registered nurses are being encouraged to take part in Scottish Care’s 2026 Annual Nursing Workforce Survey. By sharing your experiences, you’ll help build a clearer understanding of the social care nursing workforce and the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Registered nurses play a vital role in delivering safe, person-led care across care homes, care at home, and other social care settings. However, ongoing challenges around recruitment, retention and workforce development continue to place significant pressure on services.

To help build a clearer understanding of the current landscape, Scottish Care is inviting all social care providers that employ registered nurses to complete this year’s survey. Whether your service employs one nurse or many, every response will contribute to a stronger evidence base for social care nursing in Scotland.

The findings will provide valuable insight into workforce trends and the realities of employing registered nurses across the sector. They will help inform Scottish Care’s ongoing conversations with policymakers and partners, supporting a better understanding of the recruitment, retention and development challenges facing social care nursing.

We encourage all social care services that employ registered nurses to complete the survey by the 3 August to help shape the future of social care nursing.
