During 2023, ALLIANCE Membership has grown to over 3500 members, with 295 new members joining this year, including 31 new organisations and over 260 individual and professional members.

Our membership community continues to represent a range of organisations from across the health and social care and third sector and individuals living with long term conditions, disabilities, and unpaid carers.

The ALLIANCE has continued to support our members through offering training, networking, and engagement sessions, through 20 member events throughout 2023. Our events have brought our members together to network and connect, to learn and share learning, and engage on current topics and implement their feedback into policy.

Our engagement events have included:

  • Focus group on the Managing Medicines app hosted by DHI Scotland (Digital Health and Inclusion Scotland).
  • Two engagement sessions with Scottish Government’s Care and Wellbeing Portfolio team.
  • Discussion and engagement session with NHS Education for Scotland on their draft strategic plan.

Our training events have included:

  • Hate Crime and Discrimination training delivered by WSREC (West of Scotland Regional Equality Council).
  • ‘Storytelling on a budget’ training with Electrify Marketing.
  • Inclusive communication training with Communication Inclusion People.

“Many thanks, really useful development opportunity”

Throughout 2023 we have focussed on providing opportunities for our individual members and members of our lived experience networks to get involved in ALLIANCE projects and build their capacity towards their journey of sharing their experiences. We have offered a number of capacity building training opportunities for our individual members, including:

  • Trauma-informed practice information session
  • Mental health and wellbeing for individuals involved in health and social care.
  • How to engage with the Scottish Parliament.

These events have been very helpful and informative for our members, and we will continue to offer these opportunities in the new year.

“A great initiative. I’ll definitely be attending again – thank you!”

The membership team have kept our members updated on how to get involved in collaborations across the ALLIANCE and the wider sector through our bi-weekly bulletin, and encourage members to get in touch to share their news, events, and updates with us to share within our community.

Throughout 2023, the membership team has worked to review resources used to support members, including the membership handbook and the ALLIANCE website to keep our information up to date, and easier for our members to navigate and use.

We recognise that things have changed a lot in the past three years, and that we need to reflect this. We have worked to have more opportunities to come together in person, whilst maintaining online connections with our members across Scotland.

To join our membership community, email membership@alliance-scotland.org.uk for more information or submit a joining form on our website.
