Scottish Learning Disability Week (7 – 13 September 2026) celebrates people with learning disabilities

This year’s theme is ‘I am here…to be seen’.
Scottish Learning Disability Week is a national celebration that raises awareness, breaks down barriers, and promotes inclusion for people with learning disabilities across Scotland. Led by The Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD), the week aims to highlight the achievements and contributions of people with learning disabilities and raise awareness of the challenges they face.
This year’s theme is ‘I am here…to be seen’ – a powerful reminder that people with learning disabilities deserve to be seen, heard and included in all areas of life.
People with learning disabilities in Scotland often face unfair treatment. They may struggle to get support in school, find work, access healthcare, or be included in their communities. Their voices are often overlooked. This is a vital opportunity to highlight these issues and call for real change. Scottish Learning Disability Week promotes fairness, respect and inclusion, challenge unfair attitudes, and help build a Scotland where everyone belongs.
Events throughout Scotland will be held during the week, and you’re invited to pledge your support and help create change.
