With other HRCS members we sent a short report to the UN Special Rapporteur on Poverty ahead of his UK country visit in November 2018.

As a member of the Human Rights Consortium Scotland (HRCS) (this link will take you away from our website), the ALLIANCE joined with others to endorse a short written briefing to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, Professor Philip Alston (this link will take you away from our website).

The September 2018 briefing comes ahead of Professor Alston’s UK country visit in November 2016, when he is expected to spend at least one day in Scotland. The briefing notes that although activity is underway in Scotland to tackle poverty, more could still be done. Some of the human rights addressed include the rights to education, food, a decent home and health. The briefing also focuses on social security, in-work poverty and the rights of people with disabilities and women, amongst other groups.
