The ALLIANCE and Human Rights Consortium Scotland will be hosting an in person event to explore building a human rights culture.

Together we will explore the attitudes, values and behaviours that inform and influence decision making and are central to a positive human rights culture.

Join the Health and Social Care Alliance (the ALLIANCE) and the Human Rights Consortium Scotland as we discuss what it means to build a human rights culture. The event will provide a space to discuss what the human rights priorities for the next five years of the newly elected Scottish Parliament should be.

The event will take place in person at The Boardwalk on Thursday 14 May from 10am until 2pm. This engaging session will involve speakers sharing their insights from policy, practice and lived experience. There will be opportunities to share what you think needs to be in place for everyone to understand, advocate and realise their human rights every day. It will also provide the space to network and make new connections. Refreshments will be provided on the day.

This event is part of the Being Human series which explores the importance of embedding human rights into health and social care policy and practice. The series highlights stigma, discrimination and inequality faced by disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers in Scotland.

The session will be chaired by Charlie McMillan, Human Rights Consortium Scotland, with speakers:

  • Craig Morris, Care Inspectorate Scotland
  • Kate Sainsbury
  • Cornell Hanxomphou, Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland (ERCS)
  • Suki Wan, Third Sector Human Rights and Equalities
