This year Children in Scotland are looking at 20 years of GIRFEC and what comes next.
This year Children in Scotland are looking at 20 years of GIRFEC and what comes next. As always they’re planning to bring together the best of Scotland’s children’s sector to show just all the different ways we can, and do, get it right. The conference will held over two days, 27 and 28 May.
From interactive sessions co-designed with children and young people, to workshops that explore wellbeing, inclusion and innovation across Scotland’s children’s sector, this year’s programme offers something for everyone working with and for children and families. Delegates will walk away with new tools, insight and real-world approaches to support your practice.
20 workshops have been chosen this year from 100 submissions, and are set to represent 35 organisations working with children and young people. Significantly this year 70% of the workshops will be co-delivered by children and young people, creating an exciting opportunity to embed young voices and experiences into this learning opportunity.
Workshops this year have been curated around the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators: Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included.
Topics include:
- Stamping out stereotypes: talking about poverty with children and young people
- Shifting from co-production to production: insights on participation
- It takes all kinds of minds: an interactive workshop exploring the neurodivergent experience
- Home-grown solutions? Navigating out-of-the-ordinary transitions into secondary school
- Gaming, blaming and shaming
