The letter highlights deep concern at the impacts of rising energy costs on the people and organisations we represent.

The ALLIANCE have written a letter to the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, calling for urgent action to address rising energy costs, which are anticipated to rise to £3,549 per year for an average household.

In particular, we are concerned about the potential for serious negative impacts on disabled people, people living with long term conditions, and unpaid carers. In addition to often having lower incomes, people in these groups are more likely to be vulnerable to low temperatures, require energy to power assistive technologies, and to keep medicines at safe temperatures.

The letter also highlights concerns that the rising cost of energy presents a significant risk to the third sector, especially smaller organisations. This could potentially lead to organisations ceasing operation, with further negative effect on the people they support.
