Beware of the risks of counterfeit alcohol

Food Standards Scotland are urging consumers and businesses to be aware of the potential dangers of counterfeit alcohol to public health, and to the integrity of Scotland’s licensed trade.

Counterfeit alcohol is illegally produced alcohol that is often packaged to look like legitimate, well-known brands. It frequently contains toxic chemicals that pose severe health risks if consumed.

Food Standards Scotland have produced a toolkit containing social media posts and newsletter/website text to help organisations increase awareness of this issue and protect consumers.
