EPI-SCOT aims to understand how knowing the cause of a young person’s epilepsy might lead to more effective treatments.
EPI-SCOT, which stands for Epilepsy, Precision, Investigation, Stratified Care and Outcomes of Therapy, is led by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the University of Glasgow, with participation from all health boards.
The study aims to understand how knowing the cause of a child or young person’s epilepsy might help in choosing the most effective treatments and offering the best support. It will seek to address:
- How common is epilepsy in children and young people, and how often do we find a cause?
- What additional difficulties do children and young people with epilepsy experience?
- What treatments are being used for epilepsy, and which work best?
All children and young people with epilepsy in Scotland are invited to participate.
To take part in the study or to learn more about this work, visit the EPI-SCOT website.
