Social Security Scotland launches the Tommy Whitelaw training room at their Glasgow headquarters.

A training room at Social Security Scotland headquarters in Glasgow has been launched and named after ALLIANCE’s Person Centred Voices National Lead, Tommy Whitelaw.

This is a testament to the impact of the Person Centred Voices programme and the fantastic results we have achieved through our partnership with Social Security Scotland.

Over the years, we have developed expertise in supporting staff to deliver change and a substantial cultural shift. Every single person can make a difference by treating others with dignity and respect. Our work with Social Security Scotland will continue, and we hope that the principles of intelligent kindness will be embedded in their system going forward.

Tommy Whitelaw said: “It was an absolute honour to host more than 100 talks and workshops in Social Security Scotland and engage with over 2,500 staff.

“I hope our workshops managed to spread positivity and acknowledge that every single member of staff has the potential to make a difference; that small steps have a great impact and no role, no action is unimportant.

“By focusing on what matters to people, we shift the paradigm towards a person-centred model that views people in health and social care holistically and not as mere case numbers.

“I look forward to continuing this work and embedding change in practice.”

Social Security Scotland commented: “We wanted to recognise inspirational people who were connected to the cities we are based in and share some of our values and aspirations. We asked our colleagues to nominate people who inspire through their work or achievements and chose some to name our meeting rooms after.

“Tommy Whitelaw from the ALLIANCE was chosen for the impact he has had on the organisation, having delivered intelligent kindness sessions to thousands of our colleagues. We are committed to creating a culture where we treat our clients and colleagues with kindness.”
