Sandra McGuire, House of Care Project Manager in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde shares what the best thing about being a Self Management Awards judge.

If your friends could describe you in three words, what would they be?

Unconventional (in a good way), tenacious and compassionate

What is self management to you?

Control of individual to look after their health and wellbeing, affected by ability and attitude of others e.g. family, carers, healthcare professionals.

If you could trade places with anybody, who would it be?

My husband!

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Worry less about what others think of you

What is the best thing about being a judge for the Self Management Awards?

Getting to read about all the wonderful innovative work going on and not just the ones which make it through to the finals.

What’s the biggest compliment you’ve ever received?

Receiving my own award for work I was involved in.
