Opportunity to add your organisation's name to a joint civil society letter to Scottish Government in support of human rights.
The ALLIANCE has added our name to a joint civil society letter that is being sent to the Scottish Government. You can sign up too.
10 December 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, and the 25th anniversary of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders – so it’s a big year!
The Human Rights Consortium Scotland are coordinating a joint letter from civil society organisations to the First Minister, copied to all Cabinet Secretaries.
This is because we want:
- To ensure that the First Minister hears loudly, the huge support of civil society for human rights being better protected and realised in Scotland.
- To urge the Scottish Government to take steps to make the upcoming Human Rights Bill as good as possible. It is time to put #AllOurRights in law for everyone.
- To make sure that the whole of the Cabinet is aware of the extent of backing for this Bill. Human rights underpin all law and policy, and there needs to be cross-Government work to make it effective.

If your organisation also wants to support this letter, email mhairi@hrcscotland.org with the name of your organisation, the name and job title of your representative, plus your logo, by Thursday 7 December at 12noon. The Human Rights Consortium Scotland will then be back in touch with more information about how we can use social media to widely publicise the letter on 11-12 December.
