The annual survey by Carers UK helps to shape campaigns and policy work, based on the experiences of unpaid carers.

Carers UK and Carers Scotland are currently running their annual “State of Caring” survey. State of Caring is the largest and longest running survey to gather the experiences and needs of unpaid carers. The findings from the 2026 survey will play a vital role in shaping campaigns, research and policy work over the coming year.

Every year thousands of carers and former carers share their experiences via the State of Caring Survey. Their insights shape campaigns and policy work, providing vital evidence for everyone striving to make life better for carers.

At a time when a new Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament have been elected and decisions are being made about the health, social care and support for carers, it has never been more important that carers have their say.

Take part by completing the 2026 survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8GX7Z5T. The survey is open until the end of Sunday 9 August 2026.
