NHS National Services Scotland is looking for Lay Representatives to help with important work on Infection Prevention and Control.
NHS National Services Scotland is looking for Lay Representatives to help with important work on Infection Prevention and Control, contributing patient and public-centred insights to support the development and implementation of guidance and resources. This work is part of the Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland programme.
What is ARHAI Scotland?
ARHAI Scotland is a national service that gives expert advice on:
- Preventing infections in healthcare settings
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) – when germs stop responding to medicines
- Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) – infections that happen while receiving care
Preventing infections keeps patients and staff safe in hospitals and other healthcare places.
What is the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual (NIPCM)
The NIPCM is a guide for NHS staff, which explains how to use safe and effective infection control measures and reduce the risk of infections in healthcare settings. To create this guidance:
- Experts review research to make sure advice is based on evidence
- Working groups turn this evidence into practical guidance for NHS Scotland
