Listen to the latest Lead Courageously with Jacquie Pepper, highlighting leadership in the context of health and social care integration.

Listen to the latest episode in our Lead Courageously series by the Health and Social Care Academy – the series highlights examples of collective, compassionate and courageous leadership in health and social care.

In the fourth episode in the series we spoke to Jacquie Pepper, Chief Officer of Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, who discusses the benefits and challenges of working in a remote and rural setting.

During the interview, Jacquie highlighted the ‘What Matters to You?’ collaboration with the ALLIANCE which explores the theme of person centred and compassionate workplaces and shares how the learning has informed recruitment. She speaks about leading courageously at every level and the importance of empowering staff.

Courageous leadership, It’s about having that trust in people, that if you enable the right conditions they will do the right things because it’s based on their values.

In the context of leadership culture, Jacquie spoke about the role of collaboration and the relationship to partnership working. She highlighted that at the heart of partnership working everyone should have a shared understanding about the needs of the people they are trying to support.

The voice of lived experience should be included from a person centred planning to strategic decision making. Jacquie shared the role that engagement has played in the development of the Integrated Joint Board strategic plan and how Care Opinions have been used to inform performance reports.

This episode is part of the Lead Courageously series by the Health and Social Care Academy which profiles leaders in health and social care across Scotland. The series spotlights the Lead Courageously Ambition and explores the role of courageous, compassionate and collective approaches to leadership with the aim of raising the profile of leadership in health and social care.
