Read our updated strategic priorities for membership between 2024 and 2028.

The ALLIANCE membership network brings together over 3,600 organisations and individuals working together to improve the lives of people who use health and social care services in Scotland.

Our members represent a diverse community that are committed to working together for a Scotland where everyone has a strong voice and enjoys their right to live well with dignity and respect.

Being part of the ALLIANCE means members have a strong voice and can drive meaningful change in policy and practice. This strategy supports us to have an engaged membership that are proud to be a part of the ALLIANCE and know that their views, experiences, and ideas are heard, and represented throughout our work. By working towards the aims of this strategy we can measure our progress within a defined structure which benefits both the ALLIANCE and our members.

Membership benefits:

By signing up to the ALLIANCE members are joining a dynamic, cross-sector community working to improve the lives of people who use health and social care services in Scotland.

Through membership we strengthen our collective voice, increase meaningful involvement and the impact of people with lived experience, scale-up and embed successful development work, raise awareness of and address health inequalities, model and promote human rights in action, and influence and change policy.

Membership aims:

  • To expand our membership, ensuring it reflects the diversity of Scotland’s communities.
  • To be fully informed by our members and represent their views by two way sharing of information and having clear communication channels.
  • To build meaningful connections and relationships and actively engage with our members on a range of opportunities.

To diversify membership:

The strength of the ALLIANCE is our diverse and active membership, which includes over 3,600 members across organisations working in health and social care, individuals who are disabled, living with long term conditions, and unpaid carers, and professionals working in health and social care. Our aims are to:

  • Grow our standard membership.
  • Build diversity and inclusion.
  • Understand our members’ priorities.
  • Empower engagement.

Increase information sharing and communication with members:

An important aspect of our collective voice is making sure we represent our members effectively to be able to drive meaningful change. We want to make sure we understand our members priorities, and that we tailor information we share. Our aims are to:

  • Strengthen internal communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate.
  • Increase member communication.
  • Adapt information for members.
  • Prioritise our members.

Building stronger relationships:

Our members are at the core of the ALLIANCE, we know that our relationships are crucial to the work we do. We want to continue building on our relationships, but also encourage networking between our members. With stronger relationships the more expertise and diverse voices we can bring together, and the bigger impact we will have to collectively influence significant and positive change. Our aims are to:

  • Provide a range of engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain meaningful relationships.
  • Update nominated contacts.
