Have a look at a round up of ALLIANCE Live activity for the week commencing 27 April 2020.
‘What Matters to You?’ and person centred care during COVID-19
For the first podcast of the week, Carer Voices Project Lead Tommy Whitelaw was joined by Shaun Maher, Strategic Advisor for person-centred care to the Scottish Government and Healthcare Quality and Strategy Directorate and Principal Educator in the Quality Improvement team at NHS Education for Scotland. The pair discuss how Scotland’s health and social care professionals are finding ways to ask ‘what matters to you’ and how the response to COVID-19 can be leveraged in the future to strengthen the delivery of person-centred care.
Shaun has worked in the NHS for more than 30 years across diverse healthcare settings in primary and secondary care, and more recently in variety of national roles. He spent most of his clinical career as a senior nurse in intensive care. He has a particular interest in developing person-centred approaches to improving quality and is a leading voice in the global “What matters to you?” movement (this link will take you away from our website) – an informal international network of people working together to focus on re-calibrating the health and social care system.
Chief Social Work Advisor, Iona Colvin, on supporting children, young people and families
Last week, ALLIANCE Associate Director Ronnie Hill broadcasted an ALLIANCE Live interview with Chief Social Work Advisor and Interim Director for Children and Families at the Scottish Government, Iona Colvin. This conversation highlighted the importance of the third sector in supporting children, young people and families and the Scottish Government’s commitment to support for the third sector through COVID-19. During the interview, Iona Colvin answered questions which were passed to the ALLIANCE from children and young people, and other third sector colleagues.
An edited version has now been released which you can listen to on AnchorFM (this link will take you away from our website).
Wellbeing Wednesday – poetry with Dr Pip Osmond-Williams
In this ALLIANCE Live Wellbeing Wednesday, we were joined by Dr Pip Osmond-Williams, poet and academic researcher who shares how reading and writing poetry can allow you to engage, explore and escape.
