Learn more about Posterior Cortical Atrophy and why sensory care matters.

Martin Robertson is a lived experience researcher with a rare form of dementia called Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA).

Martin described his experiences via video at a workshop on sensory care and dementia at the Scottish Vision Strategy Conference 2026.

The workshop was developed as a collaboration by Martin, RNIB and the Scottish Sensory Hub on the need for sensory care standards for Scotland. The workshop also captured views from attendees on what sensory care standards should include.

In the workshop video below, Scottish Sensory Hub manager, Dr Hannah Tweed joins Martin to have a conversation about his involvement as a Public Partner of Health Improvement Scotland on the SIGN council, and the Scottish Government’s dementia strategy.

Martin also describes his experiences of living with dementia and Visual Impairment, and what needs to change to better support people living with dementia and sensory differences.

More information about Posterior Cortical Atrophy can be found at the Rare Dementia Support Service.

You can also visit Dementia UK who offer virtual clinics with a specialist Admiral Nurse to discuss any type of dementia including PCA.
