Stop the delay, end care charges now

Join the campaign calling on the Scottish Government to cancel all non residential social care charges in Scotland from September 2023.
The Scottish Government has promised to end Care Charges in Scotland by 2026 but we cannot wait any more. Thousands of disabled people on Universal Credit have been having to pay up to £100 per week from their benefits for social care from local councils. The cost of living crisis has taken a huge toll on disabled people with higher prices hitting us harder than most.
People with support needs in Scotland pay £40 million every year as charges or a contribution towards the cost of this support. The Scottish Government has promised to end all these charges within this term of the Scottish Parliament. However no date for this has been put forward yet, meaning that it could be as late as April 2026.
The Assembly, has launched a new petition aimed at speeding up the process of ending care charges in Scotland. It is being fronted by Christine McEvoy who gets support to help her and her children and faces paying for another 3 years at least.
