Researchers from the Scottish Government and University of Bristol are looking for a range of healthcare professionals
Researchers from Scottish Government and the University of Bristol are inviting healthcare professionals who work in primary care to take part in a project aimed at delivering the best possible care for young women in Scotland. If you’re a GP, practice nurse, pharmacist or another professional who regularly meets with patients in primary care settings, we want to hear from you.
We recognise the time pressures on healthcare professionals, so we have funds available to cover your time or locum backfill. We can also provide a certificate of participation.
The Project: SHIFT
Recent research from the Women’s Health Plan has shown that many young women feel their health concerns are sometimes overlooked or dismissed in healthcare settings.
To build on these findings, a team of researchers, policymakers, and community organisations have secured funding from the NIHR School for Public Health Research and the Economic and Social Research Council to co-develop training resources to support healthcare professionals in delivering the best possible healthcare experiences for young women. These resources—potentially an animation, film, or podcast—will be designed in collaboration with young women and healthcare professionals to ensure they are relevant, practical, and reflective of real-life healthcare conversations.
The Workshop
- As one part of the project, we are hosting an online workshop on Wednesday 18th June 2025, from 2pm to 3.30pm, with healthcare professionals from primary care – young women won’t be attending as they will have their own dedicated workshops.
- Participants will engage in group discussion and interactive activities to consider the best way to design and deliver the resources. This is a unique opportunity to share your insights, influence the development of meaningful resources, and contribute to improving the quality of healthcare experiences for young women.
