Join the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland for a one day event look at relational concepts to support children and young people
Do you provide support to children, young people, and their families/carers?
Are you interested in relational approaches to care?
The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland is delivering a one-day, in-person event, which will offer a space to think and to reflect on the experience of working with children, young people, and families/carers in contexts of neglect, potential for significant harm, and scope for emotional growth.
The event is aimed at community children’s nurses, community midwives, health visitors, family nurses, school nurses, and community child & adolescent mental health nurses working in Scotland.
The event is also open to other health and social care professions working in Scotland in community settings and working directly with children, young people and their families/carers, such as social workers, teachers, allied health, and medicine.
Intended outcomes for the day:
- Improve understanding of psychodynamic concepts that help make sense of baby, child, and adolescent development
- Apply this understanding to encourage relationally skilled engagement with children, young people, and families/carers who need support
- Enhance understanding of the specific emotional impact on staff when supporting children, young people, and families/carers in distress
- Provide a space to connect with colleagues working in similar roles
