A review of Humans of Scotland activities over 2018 for our annual report.
The end of 2018 saw the launch of our new and unique initiative Humans of Scotland. We wanted to reach out to people to share an insight into their everyday life’s, offering the opportunity to share something they are passionate about.
The series ran for three weeks and proved to be very popular on our social media channels and website. Each day we shared an inspiring and thought-provoking insight into the lives of individuals living with long term conditions, disabilities and/or who are carers. Each post was unique in its own way and covered a wide range of issues and challenges such as living with an invisible disability and supporting a loved one with a long term condition.
Our social media posts received lots of encouraging and positive comments, praising our contributors for sharing their experiences. Humans of Scotland was well received and shared widely by our members and colleagues and we saw great engagement and supportive comments including:
- “Great initiative this, giving a platform to voices we can all learn from listening to.”
- “Great name too #humansofscotland”
- “That is a beautiful, compassionate and warm message for all who suffer in one way or another.”
Contributors also expressed that they were grateful to have been given this platform to showcase their stories and some of the challenges they have faced in health and social care.
Ryan Cuzen said
- “My thanks to the @ALLIANCEScot for allowing me to be part of #humansofscotland They value change, hearing your stories and opinions on issues you believe need to be talked about. My hope is that others to share their own stories, with more support as a result.”
The ALLIANCE are so grateful to all of those who reached out and shared their story as part of this series and are inspired by their strength and determination to give a voice to others and the issues that affect their everyday lives. We have been delighted with the success of this initiative and looking forward to running our next series in early 2019.
