The Scottish Government is seeking support to develop the BSL National Plan 2023 - 2029.
Role Description
The post will be based in the Equality Division, within the Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights Directorate. The appointee will provide support to Scottish Government on development of the BSL National Plan. This will include working within the BSL Policy team and providing input and support on a day to day basis.
Requirements
This role requires the post holder to be a confident communicator, who can develop and maintain productive working relationships, has experience in stakeholder management and is sensitive to the complexities of the BSL landscape in Scotland.
The post holder will have an ability to identify key information from a diverse range of sources and develop succinct reports based on analysis of the information, which will inform advice on development of the BSL National Plan 2023 – 2029.
The successful candidate will be an adaptable, motivated, proactive team player who is looking to use their experience to strengthen strategic development skills and develop experience across national policy development in Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the Scottish Government in developing the British Sign Language National Plan 2023 – 2029
The post holder will be responsible for identifying and planning key tasks to support the development of the next BSL National Plan, including collating of relevant documents such as research papers and articles on the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015; supporting organisation of meetings with colleagues within the Scottish Government and public bodies; providing administrative support to BSL organisations with consultation events; and administrative tasks around publication and translations of outputs.
- To support colleagues in pulling together, and writing briefings and submissions for Ministers relating to the BSL National Plan 2023 – 2029
The post holder will be responsible for identifying and preparing key milestones during the process that require ministerial involvement, preparing submissions as needed. This includes public engagement events; meetings with civil servants; organisations and public bodies.
- To administer work in relation to the BSL National Plan 2023 – 2029
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing administrative tasks in developing the BSL National Plan 2023 – 2029, including organising meetings with stakeholders and ensuring minutes are documented appropriately, and distributing information to relevant stakeholders.
