A University of Glasgow postgraduate psychology student at the University of Glasgow is looking for participants for a research study exploring the experiences of informal carers supporting people with mental health difficulties.

The study is being conducted in partnership with Youmi, a mental health-focused organisation that provides support and resources for carers.

The research aims to better understand how informal carers regulate their emotions and cope with the challenges that can arise while supporting a loved one experiencing mental health difficulties.

Researchers are particularly interested in hearing from adults in the UK who currently support a friend, partner, or family member in a personal, non-professional caring role.

Participation involves taking part in a one-off interview lasting approximately 45–60 minutes. Interviews can be completed online via Zoom or in person at the University of Glasgow.

Participants will receive a £15 gift card as compensation for their time.

The findings from the study will contribute to research exploring emotion regulation, coping, and wellbeing among informal carers, with the aim of improving understanding of carers’ experiences and support needs.

The study has received ethical approval from the University of Glasgow Research Ethics Committee.
