Our membership network reached over 3,000 members in 2021.
In 2021, the ALLIANCE reached 3,000 members, and continued to grow our network to ensure that it remains diverse and dynamic.
We were pleased to welcome 75 new member organisations over the course of 2021. We also welcomed 112 individual members and 77 professional associates.
We engaged with approximately 635 members at 40 members events held over the course of the year. These events brought members together to learn new skills, share learning and input into policy and practice.
Training opportunities included:
- GDPR essentials
- Marketing a Fundraising Campaign
- Financial Planning for Charities
- Autism Awareness Training
- How to engage with the Scottish Parliament
Information events included:
- Human rights, mental health law and me with the Scottish Mental Health Law Review (this link will take you away from our website)
- Learning from the impact of COVID on care home lockdowns with the University of Edinburgh, UWS and Iriss
Consultation and engagement sessions included:
- Heart Disease Improvement plan consultation with Scottish Government
- Patient Safety Commissioner consultation
- ReSPECT consultation series with NHS Digital
- Vaccine Directorate and Prof. Jason Leitch on Children and vaccination
In the first few months of the year we recognised that building connections between members was more of a challenge due to continued online delivery of events as a result of the pandemic. We therefore launched our monthly Member Spotlight networking series to encourage discussion and knowledge exchange, and spotlight specific members. Over 2021 we platformed 33 members. We are pleased to learn of the partnerships that have been built as a result of this series.
“We are delivering training to other organisations we met. It will be very beneficial for our ongoing work. It was great for raising our profile.”
“Since attending I have participated in a number of other things – podcast, other network meetings […] I have submitted an article to one organisation, secured some free training from another and met past contacts.”
In the second half of 2021, we started building an engaging portfolio of our members within a new ALLIANCE Live series. Our Member Spotlight series of video interviews provided a snapshot of 21 organisations so far, who highlighted the work they do, as well as why they were drawn to join the ALLIANCE.
We were committed to ensuring that our individual members were central to the development of both our internal programme of work, and external policy and service design. In 2021 we encouraged our individual members to be involved in ALLIANCE programmes such as the Digital Citizens Panel and the Diabetes, Heart Disease and Respiratory Lived Experience Networks. Our individual members also featured in a WHO initiative, took up membership positions on numerous patient implementation groups, and contributed to Scottish Government consultation work.
“Being part of the ALLIANCE brings a sense of collective; that we are all part of a movement for change”
