Sharing our growing membership offer and activities during 2022.

Throughout 2022 the ALLIANCE has continued to grow our diverse membership, following reaching over 3,000 members in 2021. We now have over 3,200 members of the ALLIANCE, with an increase in our standard, corporate, individual, and professional associate memberships.

We engaged with over 300 members through a range of events, held both online and in person. This included training, networking, consultations, and information sessions, which offered our members the opportunity to share their own knowledge, to learn new skills, and to give feedback and input into policy into practice.

Training opportunities included:

  • Using Case Studies and Telling Personal Stories.
  • Managing Risk in Collaborative Working.
  • Media training for individuals.
  • Childhood Visual Impairment Awareness Training.
  • Using ALISS (A Local Information System for Scotland).

We continued to offer our members the opportunity to network with one another, and with the different ALLIANCE programmes. Throughout the year we held seven Member Spotlight lunchtime networking sessions, showcasing 19 of our member organisations. Additionally, we gave our members the opportunity to network with the ALLIANCE, and have a brief introduction to our different programmes at the “Meet the ALLIANCE” online session.

“All the presentations were informative in respect to what each departments aims within the Alliance … These sessions also allow for good interaction with the staff. This is beneficial in that it builds up relationships.”   ALLIANCE member.

We hosted information sessions with Robert Gordon University on the Upskilling Short Courses they are offering for Health and Social Care Practitioners in Aberdeenshire.

Throughout the year we held consultation and engagement session with a variety of stakeholders, including Scottish Government, on a variety of topics. These included:

  • The Data Strategy for Health and Social Care.
  • Framework for Pain Management Service Delivery- Implementation Plan.
  • Healthcare Frameworks for Care Homes.
  • Amplifying the Voice of Lived Experience Research Proposal

Towards the end of this year, we began to incorporate a more “hybrid” approach to the various events we offer to our members. It is important to us to balance the inclusivity and ease offered by online events with the connection and spontaneity which can occur at in-person engagements. We have offered delegates the option for online or in-person meetings dependant on the content of the event, as well as fully in-person sessions held at our offices. This November we welcomed 20 members for an intensive, three-day Fundraising Masterclass. It has been a welcome development in our approach to our events and engagement with our members.

This year, the membership team undertook an extensive Annual Membership Survey. This included both an online survey and interviews, which gave members the opportunity to share their feedback on their experiences of being a member, their priorities for the ALLIANCE, and reflections on the work the ALLIANCE has undertaken in the past year.

“The Alliance has given me the ability to make my voice heard, not just as a frustrated individual screaming into the void, but as part of a much more effective group of similar minded, and highly motivated people. As a member, I can *see* the results of the projects and events I participate in”. ALLIANCE member.
