The ALLIANCE have published their response to the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Bill consultation.

The ALLIANCE welcomes the opportunity to respond the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Bill consultation.

The Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Scotland Bill proposes to create “safe access zones” around places where abortion services are provided. These places are referred to as “protected premises” throughout the Bill and this call for views.

Overall, we fully agree with the purpose of the Bill. Within our consultation response we strongly recommend that the Bill is passed to protect and preserve the rights and safety of people accessing what are essential healthcare services.

Safe Access Zones must be systematically and permanently implemented and made effective across the country.

To ensure that no one feels unsafe accessing a health care facility now and in the future, we have provided additional recommendations within our response.

The full response is available via the resource links below.
