The ALLIANCE has responded to the Scottish Government's consultation on the best way to realise children's rights.

The Scottish Government sought views on how to best incorporate the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – the ‘gold standard’ for children’s rights – into domestic Scots law, thereby helping improve the lives of children and young people.

To inform our response, the ALLIANCE consulted our members, the third sector, and members of the public during two events on 8 July 2019 and 11 July 2019. Views expressed included:

  • Support for immediate and full incorporation
  • Clear and accessible pathways towards redress
  • The need for a diverse children and young person’s advisory group
