SoberBuzz: becoming a leader in your life

SoberBuzz give an overview of their work and what it means to them to be nominated for the Self Management in the Community Award.
One of this years nominees for the Self Management in the Community award is SoberBuzz. SoberBuzz is reframing the sober experience to put it squarely in the hands of those undertaking the change. Our support, and the inclusive community we have created, empowers individuals to reframe their relationship with alcohol and gives them the tools and skills they need to develop healthy coping strategies that work for them, to improve their wellbeing and allow them to live alcohol free. Our personal outcomes approach ensures each individual becomes the leader of their own life, taking back control and embracing the joy of sober living.
What difference has your work made to your service users lives?
SoberBuzz has made a significant impact on the lives of our community by providing an inclusive and welcoming space where they can connect, grow, and thrive without alcohol. Our community offers a unique sense of belonging, where people feel understood and supported in their journey. One participant shared, “It is so inclusive and welcoming. I’ve met some lovely people who I feel a connection with. It’s a unique group I am so grateful to have discovered.”
Many attendees express how our events have lifted their spirits, helping them break free from isolation and feel positive about the future. A single mum shared, “Being a single mum and alcohol free I’ve felt a bit isolated and feel positive about the future due to the support and lift this group is giving me.” Another participant mentioned how our events have been instrumental in making new sober friends, saying, “I have got the buzz for it and made a new sober pal who I can meet in Glasgow for lunch and stuff.”
Overall, SoberBuzz is not just about sobriety; it’s about building a life filled with meaningful connections, joy, and a sense of community, helping our clients feel supported and optimistic about their alcohol-free lives.
