The ALLIANCE and Scottish Government have produced several resources on endometriosis, in support of the Women's Health Plan.
Endometriosis is a long-term (chronic) condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb is found elsewhere in the body. It’s very common, affecting around 1 in 10 of those who menstruate. For some people, symptoms such as severe period pain, heavy bleeding and pelvic pain, can have a significant impact on their physical health, emotional wellbeing and daily routine. For more information see NHS Inform.
March is Endometriosis Action month and is an opportunity to raise awareness about endometriosis, highlight the experiences of those that have the condition, and signpost to support. Therefore to support better awareness of the condition, the ALLIANCE has produced a number of resources. These have been produced with the Scottish Government, as part of our programme of work supporting the Women’s Health Plan, and with contributions from Professor Andrew Horne from the University of Edinburgh’s EXPPECT Centre.
