NES are calling for interviewees from minority ethnic backgrounds to help refresh their 'Informed about Dementia' learning resources.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are refreshing the Informed about Dementia learning resource and are developing new video recordings with people living with dementia and their care partners about their lived experience. NES are committed to ensuring that within these recordings cultural diversity is recognised.
The Informed about Dementia learning resource is aimed at health and social care staff. Evaluation of the original resource shows that hearing about lived experience has a profound impact on the learner and helps to foster empathy and compassion.
NES are looking for people living with dementia and their care partners from a range of cultural backgrounds who may be willing to participate in interviews.
Due to tight timescales, NES aim to film these interviews at the end of January/ early February in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Recording will take no longer than one hour per person, and there will be time beforehand to meet the team to ensure participants are comfortable and relaxed.
If you are from a minority ethnic background and have lived experience of dementia, or care for someone with dementia, please contact Patricia.Howie@nhs.scot for more information on taking part.
