Have your say in Public Health Scotland's (PHS) equality outcome consultation.
PHS are currently consulting on their Equality Outcomes for 2025-2029 under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). These Outcomes have been developed through research and internal consultation to ensure they are evidence and needs-based. The Outcomes are internally focused as their strategic aims and the external work we do in Public Health Scotland focuses on reducing inequalities in public health; that external work to tackle inequality is reflected in their Corporate Strategy.
This consultation is important for many reasons, including:
- Inclusive Decision-Making: to ensure the voices of diverse groups, especially those with protected characteristics, are heard and considered.
- Legal Compliance: to meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 to eliminate discrimination, advance equality, and foster good relations.
- Better Outcomes: to enable them to design more effective and equitable ways of working by consulting widely.
- Transparency and Accountability: enabling them to demonstrate and evidence how equality impacts are considered in the work they do and decisions they make.
- Building Trust: engaging with communities, the public and workforce to build trust and confidence in Public Health Scotland.
Your feedback is important as it will help them identify the most important issues they can prioritise as part of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. It will also enable them to ensure that their Outcomes are understandable and achievable.
