ALLIANCE supports launch of DEAP report on lived experience involvement

ALLIANCE supports the launch of a new DEAP report sharing learning on meaningful lived experience involvement in mental health policy.
The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) is a partner in the Diverse Experiences Advisory Panel programme led by the Mental Health Foundation and is supporting the launch of a new report sharing learning from this work.
The report, Insights into Establishing and Supporting a Diverse Experiences Advisory Panel, explores how Diverse Experiences Advisory Panels can be established and sustained to ensure people with lived experience are meaningfully involved in mental health policy and decision making. It brings together practical insights on inclusion, participation and support, with a focus on creating accessible and safe spaces for people from diverse backgrounds to influence policy and practice.
The report draws on learning from the delivery of the DEAP programme and highlights key considerations for organisations seeking to strengthen lived experience involvement. This includes the importance of trust, adequate resourcing and ongoing support for panel members.
As part of its commitment to championing lived experience and promoting participatory approaches across health and social care, the ALLIANCE is sharing this report with its network.
The findings will be explored further in an upcoming webinar on January 15 which will discuss the report’s insights in more detail and consider how similar models can be applied across mental health, health and social care settings.
