Theresa Campbell, MSc Psychology student, is investigating the impact of deprivation following cancer treatment.
Theresa Campbell is a MSc Health Psychology student at the University of Stirling investigating the impact of deprivation on the recovery of health and wellbeing for cancer patients and survivors following primary cancer treatment.
Around 25% of cancer survivors experience long-term post-treatment symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue, mental health issues and a fear of cancer recurrence. However, those living in deprived areas can struggle to access support and resources to manage the impact of cancer and its treatment on their everyday lives.
This study aims to understand the impact of socio-economic factors on cancer survivor’s confidence in their ability to self-manage following primary treatment. These findings will be used to identify whether patients could benefit from further support in areas such as fatigue management and accessing health information and services.
The online survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and all adults living in Scotland who have completed primary cancer treatment are eligible to participate.
