Is your child with Visual Impairment missing out on sport?

Sport and physical play help children build confidence, independence and friendships. Every child with Visual Impairment has the right to take part. But knowing how to make that happen can be hard, whether it’s a game in the garden, PE at school, or a local club.

LOOK together with British Blind Sport are hosting a free online session on Wednesday 14 October 2026, 7-8pm, for parents and carers of children and young people with Visual Impairment.

The session will cover:

  • Sport and play at home: simple ways to adapt games and activities so your child can join in.
  • PE at school: how inclusive PE can work, including through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and how to speak up for your child.
  • Sport in your community: how to find and build local opportunities.
  • Life skills through sport: how being active helps children grow in independence and confidence.
  • Ongoing support: links to national sports networks and British Blind Sport resources.

Presenters:

Lora Fachie OBE PLY Workforce Development Officer, British Blind Sport

Retired Paralympic tandem cyclist and multiple gold medallist. Blind since birth and now mum to a VI three-year-old. Lora will share how sport shaped her independence, and how she’s creating inclusive opportunities for her own son.

Roy Turnham England Blind Football Captain & Sports Development Lead, British Blind Sport

England’s blind football captain, with over 15 years in sports development. Roy teaches PE to VI children and runs a community interest company helping VI children and adults access physical activity locally. He will talk about inclusion in school PE and adapting activities.
