Applications open for new Commissioning Fund

The £1m Commissioning Fund is a pivotal resource within the FORTH2O project, designed to spark investment.
The FORTH2O Commissioning Fund is a £1m funding opportunity designed to support innovative projects that optimise outcomes from water resources in the Forth Water Basin. The fund is supported by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), and Innovate UK as part of the FORTH2O Policy Innovation Partnership. The main focus of all applications should be the output / outcomes which will inform policy in the Forth Water Basin.
During Phase 1 they are inviting applications for Small Awards (£750–£10,000) and Large Awards (£10,001–£100,000).
Submission deadline 4 April 2025
The FORTH2O Commissioning Fund will support innovative projects, studies, activities and collaborations that advance FORTH2O’s commitment to optimising outcomes from water resources. This includes demonstrator projects, policy analysis, data informatics, research addressing evidence gaps, and the piloting or study of new approaches (or of existing approaches in new places). Projects can include:
- Research-led interventions e.g. scoping studies, policy analysis, empirical data collection (quantitative and qualitative), data modelling and analysis
- Action-led interventions e.g. demonstrator projects, pilot projects
