Contribute to the development of the Scottish Palliative Care Guidelines

Healthcare Improvement Scotland want to hear from the voice of lived experience.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland are inviting expressions of interest from members of the public and people with lived experience of palliative or end-of-life care to contribute to the development of the Scottish Palliative Care Guidelines—specifically the section on “Last Days of Life: Severe Uncontrolled Agitation or Delirium.”
These guidelines are used by health and social care professionals across Scotland to support safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. Including the voices of people with lived experience is vital to ensuring the guidance reflects what matters most to those receiving care and their families.
By participating, you can help ensure the updated guidance:
- Reflects real-life experiences and priorities
- Uses clear, compassionate, and inclusive language
- Balances clinical evidence with personal perspectives
Who can take part:
Anyone with experience of palliative care—whether personally, through supporting a loved one, or following bereavement—is welcome to get involved. No formal qualifications are needed.
What’s involved:
Participants will join a virtual group meeting approximately every 6 weeks, with an average time commitment of around 2 hours per week. Full support will be provided throughout.
