The Scottish Parliament's Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee wants your views on the impact of the BSL (Scotland) Act.
It is almost 10 years since the introduction of the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015. The EHRCJ committee is seeking views on whether the BSL (Scotland) Act, the current BSL National Plan and listed authority plans have been improving the lives of BSL users and what changes could be made to improve the lives of BSL users.
EHRCJ Committee Convener Karen Adam MSP said, “If you are a user of BSL we would like to hear your views on how things have changed since the Act was passed – and in particular, whether the BSL plans published by the Scottish Government and public bodies have helped.”
The Committee would like to hear from:
- BSL users
- Those who advocate for BSL users
- Listed authorities subject to the duty to produce and implement a BSL plan
- Organisations not subject to the duty, but who have views on promoting the use and understanding of BSL in Scotland.
More information on how to complete the consultation is available on the Scottish Parliament’s website in both written English and BSL.
This call for views on the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015 closes at 11.59pm on Friday 2 May 2025.
